Our Mission

At ARBC, our mission is to mitigate flood damage, coordinate river management, promote responsible watershed management, and to conserve and restore the unique natural resources in the Amite River Basin watershed.

The Amite River Basin Commission consists of 16 members, seven parish official designees, six at-large members, and three non-voting technical members.

Our History

 The District was created in 1981 by the Louisiana Legislature by Act 896, which was designed to establish the District as a regional non-federal entity to accomplish major flood control efforts.
